Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a role in many important body functions. It is best known for working with calcium in your body to help build and maintain strong bones. Vitamin D is also involved in regulating the immune system and cells, where it may help prevent cancer. Your body stores vitamin D and can also make it when your skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D is also found in some foods, mostly ones like milk that have been fortified with vitamin D. There are two forms of vitamin D: ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Some research suggests that cholecalciferol is better at raising levels of vitamin D in the blood. Getting the proper amount of vitamin D may help prevent a number of serious health conditions. Studies indicate that more than 70% of the population is deficient in vitamin D. 50 nmol/L is considered a normal vitamin D level. Anything less is considered low. Some people have extremely low vitamin D levels – as low as 10 or 7. These cases are very serious and these patients have to take high doses for months to solve the problem. Vitamin D Injections can help or prevent the following conditions:

  • Osteoporosis & Other Bone Disorders
  • Prevention of Falls
  • Abnormalities of the Parathyroid
  • Hormones
  • High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
  • Cancer
  • Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

  • Obesity
